Sounds of Silence is an American Sign Language (ASL) learning program offering both classroom instruction and personalized lessons for all ages – in person and online.
Founded by Robin Sidders, the program not only equips students with practical ASL communication skills, but also fosters an appreciation for Deaf culture and history. Sounds of Silence students often share their skills publicly through ASL song interpretation at school and community events, church services, and sports games (including the Boston Red Sox).
Robin thoughtfully customizes her curriculum to reflect each student’s age, experience level, and personal goals. Sounds of Silence is for you, whether you’re hoping to pursue a future in ASL or Deaf Studies, communicate with loved ones, or simply learn a new language!
“Robin Sidders demonstrates a genuine commitment to ensuring that each student not only learns ASL, but also develops a deep appreciation for the language and Deaf culture, history, and identity. It's evident that Robin is not just teaching a language; she's fostering a community of understanding and acceptance.”

“I have been working with Robin Sidders for ten years, five of which were spent in private lessons. I am now a high school graduate planning to study American Sign Language at the University of Rochester. After a 30 minute evaluation with one of their Deaf professors, I was placed in the ASL 105 class, skipping 101 and 102. I would very confidently recommend Mrs. Sidders if you’re looking to learn a new exciting language while having buckets of fun along the way.”

“At age sixty-one I made the decision to fulfill my longtime desire to learn ASL. Robin Sidders is a patient and supportive teacher to anyone who wants to know this beautiful language and culture. While I am not as quick to retain material as my bright fourteen year old granddaughter, whom I share lessons with, Robin is able to teach at varying levels and achieve results for all.”

“Robin Sidders knows exactly how to engage her students, whether they are 4 or 40! My 4-year-old daughter looks forward to every lesson and gets even more excited to practice between lessons.”
